which denso plugs and gap please
hi fitted some ngk 4 prong plugs but car runs and misfires like mad, ive read that single point denso plugs are good for lpg on my s60 2.4 non turbo, if so are the denso tt type ok, part no k20tt and what gap should i set on them, cheers

no idea - but put your old plugs back in for now

Multi prong plugs are a no go with LPG. The denso number you have given looks like a twin prong so again not a good idea.
NGK BKR7E or iridium equivalent will do the job |
BKR7EIX is the Iridium number

I'm a sure Classicswede will correct me but a smaller gap works better too. Cheap plugs cahnged often. A tenner the lot. (Specail so-called LPG plugs are snake-oil at those prices so can't possibly pay so forget 'em) Volvo have it that I should be at 0.9mm but my V70 was not happy (missing and poor starting) until I went down to 0.7mm.

Denso spark plug K20PRU / K20PR-U -4 pack
SKU: 00075805 1 £6.06 Goods Net: £6.06 Carriage Net: £1.24 Sub Total: £7.30 VAT: £1.46 Total: £8.76 Opie Oils Limited, The Fuel Depot, Cardrew Industrial Estate, Redruth, Cornwall, TR15 1SS |
I forgot to say, Ovlov quote 0.9mm but don't quote a differnt figure away from petrol. 0.9mm works when spanking new. 0.7mm works forever.
bimmer49 That's the kiddies for my V70 too... Denso spark plug K20PRU / K20PR-U x 5 A tenner for five delivered on the blag of e. This lot have been in a year (25-26000 miles) so should come out soon. |

Not sure what you run... P80 coils are also prone to break-down. More so if worked hard, running wide-gap plugs. Spark goes somewhere else, and that'd be thru' coil insulation.

A 340 with single point normally aspirated LPG. Been brilliant for economy for a number of reasons - more range per fill, half the cost of petrol and less need to change engine oil (hardly bother now). But we have been bugged by poor idle - sometimes cutting out when decelerating. That isn't entirely sorted but the lack of power issues were seen to by using smaller gap plugs - 0.7mm as you suggested. This has improved fuel economy too - as there is a better burn, there is more power so less need to put the throttle down so far.
So your suggestion was a win all round. Thank you again. |
Out of interest what is the reason LPG runs poor on multi point plugs?
Hope all is working ok now? |

Denso K20TT, simple one electrode spark plug with the factory gap and works perfect.
Before that, there were Bosch triple electrode spark plugs inside, I bought the car with them and also had no problems. I have also heard that for CNG and LPG, singe electrode spark plug is preferred. |
In short LPG/CNG is a different fuel. It require a different mindset to use well. For whatever reason, buyers seem to be happy to see the differences and account for these with EV, and not with LPG.
If the first EVs had been converted on the cheap from petrol, by people under rail-arches, and used by those too idle to understand the differences, we'd be hearing mutterings of how bad EVs are too. Instead, it appears they've broadly won. LPG is set to wither on the vine. And because EVs are green at the exhaust pipe, we're told they're green. Are they actually any greener? The car itself is all 'orrible toxic metals mined in places controlled by the Chinese. On this they're worse, and a lot worse. My point hardly matters, we're getting them anyway. |
