Anyone else waiting on an XC60?

I ordered a new XC60 R-Design via a leasing company at the end of June.

It was an existing dealer order that was then modified to our spec. Delivery date around the end of August. At the end of July, they advised it would arrive sometime in September. Now just revised to the end of October...

We are coping quite well with one car but still keen to step into our new motor. This will be our second XC60. We loved our first one (I know the new google system will be an adjustment but we are fine with that)

Is anyone else waiting on an XC60 or has recently stepped into a new XC60. If so, how was the wait?

MG14 Aug 27th, 2021 17:33

Yes, hopefully a month away from delivery. I ordered in mid-June and the dealer managed to bag an unallocated car in the system, which reduced the time by a month.

Amatt Aug 27th, 2021 18:17

Similar. Put an order in at the start of a May and given an estimated date of 8th Oct. Haven't checked in with the dealer for a while to see if that's slipped at all but haven't been told anything different.

Currently got an A5 coupe and going to miss the Audi system and dashboard but our lab puppy is getting bigger by the day and we're relying on the wife's small hatchback, plus I'm intrigued to see how android automotive develops.

Handyandy2 Aug 27th, 2021 18:23

Yes. Ordered mid May. Due end of September but I expect this will slip due to the factory closures due to parts shortage. Just a sign of the times unfortunately. I have to say that Volvo and my dealer are poor at providing updates.

segakid Aug 27th, 2021 18:47

Ordered a V60 at the start of August and haven’t even been given a build week yet. Emailed a week ago as they are always busy when I call, they still haven’t got back to even say they haven’t got one yet. They are quite bad at updates.

I ordered an XC60 T8 recharge Inscription Pro in late May and was given a delivery date of August. In late July I was informed that it was stuck in Poland, apparently to comes by train from China. I had a moan to Volvo UK and suddenly a few days later it arrived in UK and now been driving it for 2 weeks. My initial impression is lovely car but the Google system is driving me to distraction. No one can explain how it works it won't play the music from my iPhone and the navigation system is rubbish. I ordered a Polestar mod and was informed that it won't be available until; at least October as they have to work out how to work it with the Google system.
Having said all that I do love there car as a car to drive - it's worth waiting for

Familyman 90 Aug 27th, 2021 19:26

Could be worse - My BiL was told this week hes looking at 12 months or more for the new Jag he wants. Chips shortage.

My22xc60 Aug 27th, 2021 21:49

R-Design Pro ordered in mid-July with a potential build date towards the end of November!

griffin447 Aug 27th, 2021 22:05

XC60 Recharge T6 R-Design. Ordered mid June and due 19th September however it left factory in China around 9th August so looking like it will be early!!!

Ouch - not sure I have the patience to wait 12 months for a new car. Though I know the chip shortage is proving a real problem for manufacturers with production way down. Keeping my fingers crossed that my car does arrive in October and not just keep slipping.

It sounds like we are all looking at similar times for our new XC60. It would be great to hear updates on timing when people's cars do arrive.

Handyandy2 Aug 28th, 2021 08:31

Well Torslanda is closed all next week so I think delivery dates are going to slip. It’s seems the cars coming from China are quicker!

theronin Aug 28th, 2021 15:08

Expecting mine anytime now ordered in July T8 P*E. Dealer has been giving regular email updates with delivery time.

Is yours showing as on a vessel? If so it’s probably on the same vessel as mine 😂😂😂

gdmm Aug 30th, 2021 09:01

I ordered a Momentum last week from a lease company. They stated December at the earliest, the dealership who is providing it said in a separate discussion January/February.

Not sure where it is exactly, I'd assume it should be at the import centre. Luckily got a build slot a dealer already had so havnt had to wait as long as most in this thread.

Likewise, ordered in Mid June so not done too bad at all really. Mine is either at the distribution centre or on its way. Due any day now I believe.

I ordered at the end of March originally and I am still waiting for the car so you have done well. I was most recently told some in September, but no confirmation of a build yet so not looking too promising at the minute. All rather frustrating!

Is it a recharge or petrol or diesel? Reason I ask is all recharge models are made in China and even once built there are 22 days transport tine from factory to Ghent. Just so you can factor that into your timescales 😊

Handyandy2 Aug 30th, 2021 14:11

Is it just the recharge ones made in China or do they make petrol and diesel there too? I’m waiting for a diesel but it seems like the petrol and recharge are coming through more regularly. Maybe they don’t sell many diesels these days!

I’m not sure about petrol or diesel. I just know recharge are made in China. Might be worth asking your dealer? I would have thought the VIN would show country of manufacture.

It’s petrol. Limited information has been given from the dealer to be honest and I don’t think they have helped in the process. A couple of weeks after my initial order, it was apparently cancelled and resubmitted by the dealer without them telling me. The dealer then authorised Volvo building a car without all of the extras I had ordered and said I could either have that car or the dealer would have it as they could sell it. So I suspect they then submitted a further new order and, despite them assuring me to the contrary, I have moved to the back of a long queue.

BlueOrchid Aug 30th, 2021 23:09

Ordered mine at the beginning of June. Was told end of September/beginning of October. Now have been told my build is on 3rd September with expected delivery 9-19th September. So earlier than I was told

Ian.7878 Aug 31st, 2021 17:50

Hi all, Placed my order for a XC60 R-Design Pro B5 (Mild) at the end of June. Dealer was trying to get order delivered for new reg at the start of sept. But that has slipped to near the end. What with the shutdown of Volvo's plant in Torslanda this week due to the chip shortage!

When i ordered my car i WAS unable to order BLIS or 360 Cam, but everything else was good to go.

I would say Good Luck! as the plant is closed this week! restarting production 5th Sept

Sorry to deliver bad news.

Handyandy2 Aug 31st, 2021 18:10

I had an update today. Delivery has slipped back 3 weeks. If that ends up being correct it will be exactly 5 months from order to delivery. However 6 weeks is a long time at the moment and anything could happen!

Ian.7878 Aug 31st, 2021 18:13

Think i will put a call in to my dealer tomorrow to see what they are showing, Its a shame that Volvo dont have a customer facing portal to check on the status of your order.

griffin447 Aug 31st, 2021 18:21

Hopefully the shutdown is only one week. The chip shortage doesn’t appear to be getting any better at the moment. I’ve got a car charger on order since June and that’s just been pushed back 4 weeks due to the shortage too!

Frankiee Aug 31st, 2021 22:50

Ordered mine in April, got it in July, I’d originally ordered it with Driver Awareness pack as I wanted adaptive cruise and pilot assist. This also came with blis and rear collision alert. I was informed about the chip shortage and had a choice to keep the car per the order and wait or remove the blis and rear collision (which I didn’t want) and get it sooner. The guys at Volvo Tonbridge sorted it and I received it mid July. 22my B5P AWD R-Design

I thought it sounded a bit too good to be true! Only spoke to the dealer over the weekend so surprised he didn't know about the closure. Oh well, I guess it will add another week or so on.

BlueOrchid Aug 31st, 2021 23:31

Have you managed to add the camera now? I had the same problem but managed to add the camera later on.

Not bothered by the 360 cam, decided to upgrade the audio to the HK instead!

Maccaboy10 Sep 3rd, 2021 21:02

Ordered T8 Recharge R Design Pro end June. At first it was delivery in Sept, then likely October and yesterday I was told end November. BLiS was also removed.

theronin Sep 6th, 2021 10:22

I was under the impression that the recharge models for the UK market were all made in China, but I've juts been told by the dealer mine is being made in Sweden. Anyone clarify this? I'm also being told the car isnt even built yet despite the delivery date being this week, which has now been pushed back several weeks.

I have a T6 Recharge R Design that was made in China around 9th August. It's currently somewhere in Europe with estimated delivery of 19th September however looking like it will be earlier based on the speed it's been travelling.

Mines got delivery of 15th sept now. Told the dealer there's no hope if it's not even built 🤣

To be be fair if it's made in Sweden it's possible. It only takes a day to build a car and a couple of days to transport to UK. I wouldn't give up hope just yet. If it gets to Friday and you don't hear anything then you may have to give up hope...

Didn't realise it was that quick from Sweden, thanks for the info 👍

Building a car doesn't take long at all it's the transport that causes the delays. Coming from China you're talking 22 days and that's if everything goes like clockwork. The cargo ships can get from Gothenburg to UK port in less than 24 hours.

MG14 Sep 6th, 2021 18:14

Just spoken to my dealer to get an update. Car builds are allocated 5 days but, it would seem, that mine is down for 3. Not to worry, it’s still on schedule for delivery to the dealer by 5 Oct, which is great news.
