Bought a spare key - not cheap!
Fitted new door seals on both front doors as large coppers with protective gear had torn them to ribbons - hopefully less noise and warmer! Had the stereo out and re-connected the driver's side front speaker wire the police had chopped to fit their own radio. Such bliss to be able to hear the stereo properly. Fitted LEDs in the number plate lights. |
Not much on Sunday, just glued back the leather on the front side pockets that had come loose on both sides - much better now :)

Last night I took out the bulbs in the overhead console and swapped them for 501 LEDs. Unfortunately not just a straight swap as you need to prise out (twist 'n tug several times) the existing bulbs from the blue holders, ease up the contacts on the side, then thread some wire into the little holes on the 501s (1 wire each side), wrap around the holder contacts, push them down again then put bag in the console.
A bit fiddly to say the least. I essentially stripped some speaker cable, cut off about 6 strands about 2cm long, twisted together, threaded the hole, twisted so it wouldn't come off the 501, then twisted around the contacts. However, the result is good - nice clean bright light in the cabin and from the reading lights :) Have to do the back seat one now & the footwell lights... |
My favourite scrapper (Evolv Parts - http://www.volvobreakers.co.uk ) delivered me a few more bits this PM to replace the bits the cops destroyed
Engine cover - not totally necessary but should make it a bit quieter Rear cargo rails - mainly for the clips but in better condition than mine Tailgate interior trim - both the carpet and the bit around the rear screen had damage where there were lights and funny stuff All now replaced & the car looking much better and as Volvo intended :) |

I've got both remote keys for my Focus, and I've deliberately tried locking one of the keys inside, and it never lets me lock the doors as it detects the other key. This works even if I open and close the boot. I've not dared try this with the Volvo, although I could probably try leaving a window open in case I need to crawl in to get the key. I'm also considering investing in something like: https://www.thetileapp.com/en-us/?ut...xoCWsUQAvD_BwE although this doesn't help me if I lock the key inside the car....which might not be possible as per my Focus. |
Try this
£70 for some sort of remote doohicky that will open your car via your phone. Then just get the guy to cut a blank. |
Installed a pair of Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited HID bulbs.
I hadn't realised how 'warm' 4300k looks. Probably for the best though. |
Bought it...
