Catching fire!

We had a Jan 2011 XC60 D3 SE (bought from almost new from main dealer). On 31.10.14 it caught fire on our driveway (luckily no-one in it) and fire had to be put out by fire brigade after they managed to smash their way into the car (central locking had stopped working) – extensive damage to interior in particular and car was written off by insurers. In opinion of the fire brigade and insurer's engineer fire was caused by an electrical fault in front passenger door – perhaps the central locking mechanism. This was after we had found all the windows open that morning when going to use the car and it was raining so the interior had got rain in it; after that during the day the front passenger window started opening of its own accord. Volvo are sending an engineer to inspect the car at the salvage yard next week to see if he can determine the cause - apparently the earliest he can manage. Anyone else had anything similar (perhaps without a fire)?

Gearbox and other issues

I purchased a new D4 AWD R Design in December. There have been a number of problems with the electrics however today when my wife started it up, it will not engage any gears.

After talking to the dealer this morning she is waiting for Volvo Assist to turn up (4hrs+ so far) and recover the car.

The other problems include;

Car not being PDi'd before pick up.
Autostop/start works intermittently. (even when engine is at temperature)
Tyres losing pressure from all four tyres.
Tyre Pressure Monitoring flashes warning lights showing all tyre pressure is low (even when it has dropped 1psi)
Steering column sound deadening had become loose partly jamming steering (now remedied)
Auto handbrake release was not working properly.
Various software programmes (Seven I was told) required to be stripped out and replaced.
The fuel consumption, to date (960 miles) has been less than 26mpg !!!!!
I have been told by the garage that everything is running correctly!!

Power steering

See my longer post with details of almost total system failure with power steering sensor being the causative factor. This caused failure of power steering, handbrake and transmission amongst others!!!

2010 CC60 D4 coolant consumption

We had on our XC60 D4 the radiator and the thermostat housing replaced to correct a coolant leak and consumption. After three months the coolant consumption has returned having to add 200 cc every month!

Does any one in the forum has encountered such an issue? And how was it corrected?

Our XC60 D4 is a 2010 but with only 33,000 KM.

Slow oil leak turbo area

Our 2010 XC60 D5 has developed a small oil leak located close to what seems the oil vapor collector, which is a small plastic box on the rear of the engine, which seems to be wet. The area is where the turbo (turbos) are located. The oil drips down to the bottom cover by the intercooler piping. Any comments are welcome.

I plan to vapor clean all the area to help identify where the leak comes from and take the car to the dealer perhaps next week. Despite having only 34,700 Km the car is off warranty. A prior inspection request was made by the 30,000 Km inspection and the service manager ruled it off as dripping from a previous oil change.

Has anyone encountered such a leak on a D5 such as ours?

XC60 2010 D5 AWD:
2yrs - Gearbox filter issue causing juddering at constant speed, dealer fixed.
2 1/2yrs - Parking sensor required replacemant
3yrs - AWD electronics issue rendering AWD inoperative 2 attempts to fix but then estimated £1500 fix so part ex'd it for:

XC60 2013 D5 AWD:
13mths - 17k miles, front O/S wheel bearing, dealer replaced.

Not feeling the love for Volvo reliability at the minute.
