Sorry to be pedantic, but there is no such thing as an LED screen. It's an LCD with LED backlighting

To be even more pedantic an oLED screen is organic LED. :D

Having gone through last winter - "Beast from the East" and all that, even down here on the south coast the heated screen was invaluable.

I first had this feature on a 1988 Escort XR3i Convertible, sold in 1990, I had to wait a quarter of a century to have another car fitted, the wiper de-icer on the Subaru was nowhere near as good.

Without exceedingly long arms the XC60 windscreen would be impossible to fully de-ice without it.

I picked up my MY19 XC90 Incription Pro T8 2 weeks ago. I had ordered it with a heated front screen, however it turned up with a HUD. it appears that the car defaults with a HUD so if you want one you have to deselect that option and a heated screen is fitted. This had been missed during my order. At first, like previous posts I felt living in the North East of Scotland a heated screen would be the better option however after driving the car for a few weeks I quite like the HUD. I suppose the first frosty morning and the scraper is out I might feel different.

I've got the HUD and love it. Couldn't be without it. Been without heated screens my whole life, though, and never felt I've needed one.

I'd rather have added safety and keep my eyes on the road than forego that just so I can have an extra five minutes in bed on the 10 days of the year it's actually cold enough to matter.

Go for the HUD and use the parking climate function on the app to ensure your car is toasty and defrosted by the time you're ready to leave ;)

Totally agree with your above comments. My last XC60 had the Heated Windscreen which I used no more than 5 times in 3 years were as the HUD I use every single drive.
Just tried out the Engine Start on the VOC App on my iPhone, so simple - as long as car is locked you just press the "Start" button on the App and it will Auto Stop after what ever time limit you have set in minutes - or just press the Stop button.
Will be magic is required to pre-condition the car's climate.

For me, the choice was always about which option I would use more; five or six weeks out of 52, or every time I drive the car.

No brainier for me...

Even after the last fairly bad winter, I am still glad I chose the HUD. Having the auxiliary heater helps though as long as the battery level does not drop too low.

I have used my Heated Screen at least 5 times in the last few months, just to clear mist very quick, it clears it in seconds, it turns itself off after a minute or so,

I run the air con in eco mode all the time so far since I have had the car.

I am glad I got heated screen.

Does everyone get an auxiliary heater? Can't remember an opportunity to spec up. Still my ordering is done. With a T8 I assume I'll be be preconditioning down the charge wire? Haven't tried it yet.

Had a look and preconditioning via voc seemed to be setting a time it starts before you want to drive away. I was expecting an opportunity to set the ac at a certain temp etc .... but could not see one. Maybe I haven't delved deep enough.

Anyone got any simple clarification?

On auto aircon my screen does not mist up, but I rarely have a car full of people.
