Until older car parks start collapsing like a pack of cards

I thought about this thread today when I stopped at Keele services and watched the "Tesla Dance".

A line of Teslas in the Tesla parking bays, being charged up.
Another line of Teslas, in regular parking bays, parallel to the Tesla bays, waiting for a space to become available.
Tesla gets charged up and leaves.
Tesla moves from regular bay to charge point.
Another Tesla turns up, does a circuit and finds the charge points all taken up and take a space in general population.
And on and on and on.

It didn't look like a very convienient way to make a long trip.

Every grunt & their dog in Sydney operates a top-of-the-range dual-cab Hilux or Ranger, and has for over a decade. EV weights aren't a thing, at least not 'til everyone's buying electric Dodgey Rams & Canyoneros to keep up in the road-bullying race.

I don't drive an EV, but two of the sets of chargers are near where I park at the local shopping centre. I've seen the set-of-three full, but the bank of what I think is about 10-12 hasn't ever been full that I've seen - and I usually get around to shopping at around 10am-11am on a Saturday or Sunday.

My wife's going through a desire to see movies on half-price Tuesday in the day-beds, every week, and one strange thing I HAVE noticed recently is Teslas arriving to charge at times between 9pm & 11pm. I dunno if they're parking there all night & live in one of the nearby unit blocks, or if they're doing their groceries late at night so nobody else will be around ... one fair hypothesis is also that the chargers DO get full at times when I've not been there.

Just before Christmas (i.e. 9 months ago) my wife and I went to see some friends in London one weekend - drove down from Yorkshire on Saturday and back up again Sunday.

On Saturday late morning at Watford Gap services on M1 - all 8 chargers were occupied with 3 cars waiting.

On Sunday morning about 10.00 at Baldock Services on the A1 - same again - all occupied.

This was at the weekend when its mostly families etc, not business men and reps....

Just for the record, I’m not anti Lectric car. This happened in Wolverhampton (before lectric cars were a thing), luckily nobody was in the car park when a piece of it fell in. Very true point though as bigger motors become more and more popular.

That doesn't look like a typical line, I wonder if there is some additional context to this thing...
