Absolute screamer yes.

Try getting insurance though....I know loads of former owners that got rid because insurance is a mare some are paying a few K one could insure a 360 for less.

didnt know the insurance was that steep a guy at my last work had one and loved it , never mentioned insurance costs though , he was in his 30,s ,only time he hated it was in the snow when he got stuck down south a few years ago in heavy snow trying to head back up to scotland , i had the same problem with the bmw 330d m sport absolute nightmare in the white stuff

I know three owners that sold them, when the winters are bad true, but even on a slightly damp road they are ultra tail happy, more so the earlier cars they "improved" the later ones apparently. Stick some winter tyres on the majority of RWD and you should be a lot safer.

It is one car I love, but the insurance would cripple me I know loads on limited mileages and are severely restricted - from memory the owner of Zaino has one and his Range Rover is a daily driver and cheaper...the S2000 is his pride and joy true, but the costs I have heard.

Early on they were not bad on insurance but as more got produced more were also finding ditches etc. If I remember correctly I think one told me he was looking at 3K-4K for insurance alone and he was late 20's - early 30's.

StockholmSyndrome Mar 8th, 2013 20:56

V60 is beautiful inside and out IMHO, still fetching £19k on eBay though :(

steadvex Mar 9th, 2013 14:56

friend of mine has a s2000..

less than £600 fully comp, 28 with 9 yrs no claims (realistically I call that 5 but he says 9), his first year with the car was just over 1k

Hi Ninja

Just obtained a quote for an S2000 (knocked a few years off the wife..lol..to make her 25 and put her on the policy) and the quotes were £650 to £900, which I don't think is to bad, considering the type of car

Regards

25 is where the major step change in premiums is...before that ££££.My insurer won't touch me, and tbh I do not want a car with such a reputation for being so tail happy.

volvorocks Mar 10th, 2013 16:43

Are you under 25 Ninja?

Yep in that case I agree and understand. I had the same problem years ago when 21 was the step, as I approached 21, the age was raised to 25....!!!!!!!

Regards

Yes VR, additionally I have had quite a lot of fun ensuring to even get the right spec car so I can get insurance hence "only" being a 1.8 and not a 2.0 MX5.

I'm never likely to buy any new car, but if I did it would not be a Volvo, in spite of the fact that I've driven them for over twenty years.
The reason is that like most manufacturers, they no longer make a proper, square-backed estate car!
I need an estate to carry my dogs and Herself's mobility scooter, and so need a boot opening which is at least 32" high. With the modern trend for sloping rooflines, most estates are around 28" or less, so no go I'm afraid.
When my present 850 dies, it'll have to be another one, or its later counterpart, the V70. Or a Berlingo van........................!

RobbieH Mar 22nd, 2013 12:45

Come the lottery win in August / September I will:

i) order a new XC70 T6 but ONLY if they put a manual box in it. It won't be Polestar blue though, something a bit more subtle like the current Twilight Bronze.

ii) get it passed to Polestar for their attention - take as many mods from the Polestar S60 and have them transfererd to the XC70. Ohlins suspension, the brakes, engine remap and tweaks, etc.

iii) Pick it up at the start of the skiing season in say late November and work our way through Europe to finish the season in the Alps (Samoens region) at Easter.

iv) Drive back home to UK. Swap skis for the training bikes and drive to Barcelona (stopping en-route at a few selected places I have in mind).
v) get the ferry to Majorca and spend April and May on the bikes training and enjoying the roads on 2 wheels.

vi) drive back to UK and spend June and July in the UK. (time trial season on 2 wheels plus the T5D5 Castle Combe track day).

vii) drive back to the Alps with the traing bikes and spend August and September two wheeling it round the mountains.

vii) drive back to the UK, swap bikes for skis and start over again.

What a splendid life

Understand what your saying. I've been a massive critic of the V60 for it's poor boot space, my dog can't sit up in it. The V50 wasn't great either but the V70 is ok. My previous V40 was actually the best as despite the lack of a level load floor, there was masses of space between the boot floor and roof.

Prufrock May 20th, 2013 16:28

Xc70.

I've voted for the XC70 as it is the only Volvo I would consider buying.

I quite like the C30 (girly car, so for my Wife), my other like was the V50 (no longer in production).

I don't like soft roaders at all.

rudi dudi May 20th, 2013 20:14

Dont like any of the current range. Volvo have lost there way in my opinion.
Much prefer the look and feel of the Audi if I were in the market for a brand new motor

Apoplectic May 20th, 2013 20:15

I'd have to say a red S60 for me. I like the lines of them.

Pureaz Jun 29th, 2013 19:59

would love a polestar c30 or s60 . Volvo should make real R's again not these silly R-design things , how about a C30 with awd and the S60 R engine ! perfection:thumbs_up:

stephenevans99 Jun 29th, 2013 21:21

Really liking the look of the V60 at the moment, but my next Volvo will most likely be a C30 T5. Depreciation is a cruel mistress but at least it gives me access to these cars once they're 5 years old :)

Gazdok Jul 1st, 2013 15:44

I would like a V70 AWD with a D3 engine and a manual gear box. It is a shame that this combination is not available on a V70 in the UK though .
Funny enough that it is available as a XC70. Sadly I do not like the looks of the XC70.

I don't think Volvo make a V70 D3 AWD for any market. They don't seem to offer any AWD for the UK market anymore which I find very strange. What are Volvo playing at?!

GMcL Jul 13th, 2013 21:55

If there was a none of the above option then it might show Volvo what the current Volvo owner thinks of the line up.

How about a C30 with AWD and a 4.4 V8? Put a 9V battery in the boot call it a Hybrid and claim a lying through the teeth 89g/km CO2 rating (program it to run on one or two cylinders during a "typical" urban cycle, as if any of us drive a "typical" urban cycle).

Lexus can get away with it why not Volvo ?

P.S. If I HAD to pick one of the above then it would be an S80 as (other than the XC90 and I don't do farmyard machinery) it's about as close to a Volvo as you'll get.

Last year they were still selling the XC70 as 2.0l D3 with 163 BHP and AWD.
The 2.0l engine seems to have been dropped in favour of the old 2.4l D4 with 163BHP. Other countries like Sweden, Poland, Germany, Holland, France, Italy... still get a AWD V70 version.
The UK is on a par level with Spain and Turkey now where they do not think AWD is needed.

C30.

It's like no other car out there.

danielwright Oct 3rd, 2013 19:49

Although i drive a c30 i think if money was no object a v70 t6

Volvo2002 Oct 11th, 2013 21:33

Right now in the range? Probably the V40 in the R-Design trim. It appeals to me. Sat in one at Parks Volvo and instantly fell in love.

V70 Geoff Nov 12th, 2013 23:01

Difficult to decide

Just one Volvo, heck, I guess it will always be the latest V70 but in my stable now is a V70 D5 SE Geartronic, a V70 2.5T auto, an S60 D5 SE manual and an Amazon 2 litre so it obviously requires 4 choices to cover all the options.

zerocool Nov 12th, 2013 23:50

I want a polestar , but thats not a option. i own a s60 so im gonna have to go with the v70.

Westyman Nov 13th, 2013 16:08

I am so pleased with my XC60 after a rather lacklustre V70.
