Good to see another V6 being revived.

If the piston surface has any damage it is not going to end well. New calipers will be your best bet. They are not that expensive

Hi Guys
It's been a while for sure, I have only in the last 2 weeks actually got the Volvo at mine to start on the front brakes. The fronts were pretty much seized and took a bit to extract the pistons out. The pistons weren't too bad even after cleaning them up, I could see minute pitting so ordered a new set of caliper repair kits including the pistons. Luckily the calipers were unmarked. I have fitted the right front but now are having trouble buying the right front brake pads (last owner fitted new disc's all round and new rear pads but not the front pads ) A set arrived which were supposed to be for the 240/260 series which were too small, I did think they may have sent me rears but they're too big for the rear calipers.
Does any one know if the 262c front pads are different?
I have also bought new injectors but haven't fitted them yet.
Many thanks

Pete

My next stage was to fit the new injectors this morning however once I removed said injector I noticed that the old injector has a rubber type seal that the new injector should slip into. My first problem was getting the old rubber seal off and this was the result :sad-smiley-047:
Is there a way of removing these rubber seals which seem to have gone hard over the years?
Many thanks Peter

Did the new injectors not come with new "O" rings? You'll need to order some from Volvo if not.
Either way you can't fit new injectors using old seals. :nah:

No it seems new injector are not supplied with these seals and the seals are an obsolete part from Volvo now.
I have managed to track a set down in Florida though for a very reasonable cost though freight is more expensive than the seals themselves

Try Emerald at Watton, bit cloer than Florida! :err: Either that or anywhere that describes themselves as a Bosch Fuel INjection specialist that still deals with K-Jetronic.

Things like the Ford Capri 2.8i, early XR3i, Saab 900i, many Mercs, VWs, Audis, BMWs etc all used K-Jet so you should be able to find some somewhere i would think.

Many thanks for the links, unfortunately the seals in those links are not the seals on my injectors. The ones I require are no longer available in the UK according to Volvo and Classicswede
The ones which are right are, believe it or not are available in the States. So sorted there.:regular _smile:

I have finally got around to starting the Volvo after fitting the new injectors, it just cranked and cranked, thought it might have needed bleeding until I cracked open the few injector connections to see air bubbles. Still would not start, so unscrewed the fuel line to the filter to find no fuel at all. It was out of gas  So much for the fuel gauge showing 1/4 tank!
Fed a gallon of gas in her and after a few cranks she started. Then after a couple of minutes she started to run rough and rougher like she was over fuelling to the stage that it was hunting badly and choking herself up with fuel. It would clear if I revved the engine high but when it came back to idling it was back to hunting badly and after about 6 minutes it ran out of gas again.
I was thinking that the cold start valve had stuck open, I disconnected what I think is the cold start valve wiring but it still sounded like it was on full fuel.
Not being familiar with the engine component's, is there another part to disconnect to try and stop this over fuel issue.
Many thanks Peter
