Well, finally got my new front end on this weekend.

It has taken a fair bit of time and effort all round but the front end job is now done! The main frustration was actually having all the parts but no funds to have them sprayed and get them on the car.

To me the hard work has now paid off and I'm happy with the results.

Here is a couple of pics - just need to get on with a detailing session now, although that won't be until this weekend.

It was mostly just ebay- though I have compiled a list of UK Volvo specialist breakers now! I'll post a list on Thursday when I'm back in my office where I left it!

Why do things never go smoothly!
Removed the old unpainted black textured skirt with ease....too much ease.
installing the replacement skirt I realised why the other came of so simply.
The seven underside screw rivets were missing.
My new skirt now sags a little but that'll be put right in a day or two when the rivets arrive.

I also installed the painted lower door moulds.
Removing the old ones was simple. Unscrew the screws at either end on the other side of the door and pull out (pop clips).
The replacement moulds are a different shape and are colour coded.
Im also now painfully aware that the end fittings are different and they do not accept screws.....spoke to FRF and they confirmed my suspicions, all that is listed for the body kit is the x2 screws per mould.
...Plan B, a bodge but got there in the end.

Will take pics tomorrow.

Hello JasonB,

I am doing the same project as you have done, every thing is now at the painter store. But now i see the reply that the lower R-Design moulding don't fit on the 2004 V50? I didnt thought about that, i just screw them of a 2010 S40 and take them to the painter.... I thought 2 screws and some plugs just the same at my 2004 v50 so that must be right....but it isnt? Do i have to call the painter to cancel or are they adjustable? Maybe you have pics what is different?

Regards,
Johan from the netherlands.

I bump this thread to the top with a question regarding the wing mirrors. Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the facelift swap? The connectors are identical, but my mirrors does not adjust. The temperature reading seems correct.
