I believe MTE/TME used rototest for the development of there software.

That is indeed the kit that MTE have. As well as TDI in Barking, there is a company in one of the Medway towns and, I understand a couple of others further north. An associate Company of Ferrita also have Rototest equipment, but they are principally Saab tuners, although Ferrita use it, along with their in-house RR to develope their exhausts.
There is also a hub dyno made in New Zealand by Dynapack: Abbey Motorsport in Surrey have a Dynapack 4wd set-up. Myself, pyapp, Stuart Williams and some others took our cars there a couple of years ago. We found their figures very similar to those obtained at Power Engineering and Well Lane in Batley. I saw the Abbey Motorsport Dyna Pack set up a couple of years ago when I went to have a look at Stuart Williams' 850R doing a session as I have observed quite a few sessions over the last few years in the South East. They did some real time mapping with his car which was interesting to watch. Ashok's car ran as well, however I didn't have the time to stay to watch.
I've used my local rolling road eight times over the last few years with very consistent results that reflected the car's development as I modified her. Funnily enough on the first session she produced 245 BHP at the crank (standard is 240). After putting a stainless 3" downpipe, sports cat and cat back she produced 249BHP at the crank. The small change in BHP did not reflect the fantastic change in engine response and the turbo spooling up so much faster. I left it until last year to chip her getting 269 BHP at the crank. Small changes that look insignificant on paper (4bhp) can make such a difference in a practical context! |
