If you buy a battery from Tayna and need to replace it - they send out the packaging the their own courier to collect it.

Thank you all for your help.

Just price checked the support battery. 50 quid delivered for a Varta from Tayna batteries. 100 quid from Volvo Parts shop for a Volvo one.

Just onto looking at the main one now. Will get a price from the dealer tomorrow, but if it is similar difference will definitely be going after market. Might just change both and be done with it.

Couple of other quick questions if I could be so bold. Do I need to remove the wipers to get the plastic skuttle off? Also the terminals look very dry, should I smear with some copper grease? Finally the skuttle seems to be stuck with a kind of padded adhesive strip, should I be replacing this too?

Many thanks.

I changed the batteries on my XC60 last week. I've no idea how the V60 compares to the XC60 so I'll just assume that they are similar.
I purchased the support battery from Tayne and it is probably the same one that you have already identified. The main battery I purchased was a YUASA AGM 096 9000 SERIES from GSF. These are excellent batteries and well worth the money.
The wipers do need to come off. The 'padded strip' that you mention simply pulls off and pushes back on. There is no adhesive involved.
A thin smear of Vaseline will protect the terminals from corrosion.

Battery replacement

If you need a battery replacement and are in the midlands I would recommend a place called rock batteries, they have been going donkeys years, my dad and grandad both used it from the 70s onwards. They replaced both my main and auxiliary for less than just the main elsewhere and it was a quality replacement.

I had the same issues and replaced the main battery a couple of years ago and everything has been fine since.

I bought a Type Varta Silver Dynamic 096 AGM 70Ah 760CCA but check your actual battery as they can differ.

I used the guide as attached, not sure where I got it from now.

I also reset the BMS using the procedure below:

1. Switch on ignition (do not start engine)
2. Switch on dipped beam
3. Press the rear fog light button six times (on-off-on-off-on-off)
4. Press the hazard lights button three times (on-off-on)
5. The battery symbol on the dash should flash quickly three times.

It sounds slightly ridiculous but it works.

Just did exactly that and it worked. Had a bit of a faff getting the ignition on without the engine but once I managed that then the procedure above worked perfectly. Thanks.
