Bulb holders and led bulbs turned up for interior and map lights, a much more modern look.

Had my Caniculars refurbed at The Wheel Specialist, in light gunmetal with matt lacquer.
https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/pictu...ictureid=10706 https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/pictu...ictureid=10707 The centre caps polished up like new using my Meguiars headlamp cleaning kit. Put the wheel bolts in a vice and cleaned up with wire brush attachment on drill. They look like brand new Volvo wheels now - I'm very pleased :) I do like my after-market alloys (see winter wheels below) but there's no doubt in my mind it's worth paying to restore Volvo originals. https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/pictu...ictureid=10708 |

Presumably those Canicular wheels were just fitted to SE Lux models ? Have you had your's refurbed, or just very well looked after ? |
Looks like a previous owner has had them painted at some point.
Really like the wheels, was going to get some new aftermarket but they look so good. How much did you pay to get your wheels painted? |
Volvo specs seem to be hit and miss, a brochure I read said the S80 SE lux all came with the full sovereign hide leather yet I see lots with the cheaper leather faced seats.
Seen an advert on eBay that does a like for like swap on refurbing Volvo alloys. It would be a gamble on the quality of the paint job. |
Missing a rubber mount from the engine cover, new set fitted.

Fitted a £6.97 (e-bay) glass to the N/S door mirror as the original one became unstuck and fell out when Mrs shut the door.
I say came unstuck - it has literally from the heated back pad. Anyone else had this? |

It really was the full works though. Chemical strip, sand blast, repair, power-coat, bake, lacquer, bake etc....oh, and tyres refitted and wheels balanced of course. My only negative comment was that some of the worst corroded areas (around the bolt holes) still look pitted under the paint (only if you look close). Apparently this refurber never uses fillers as they can cause issues when baking the power coat. They prefer to take metal back to smooth surface. I can see their point from a technical perspective. I think I've seen those ads on eBay. Maybe they're OK ? Now that I seen how the pros do it, I'd be really picky about choosing somewhere. They should have a shot booth, paint booth and kiln, and be happy to show you round ;) I agree the Caniculars look really good. I hadn't seen many variants when I got my V70, but now very glad I got the SE Lux as I prefer these to all other Volvo wheels. And yes, the sovereign hide leather is fantastic. |
