well good .bad ,and hairy lol , reason dam fuel tank problems
,went on some test runs , and ive hit the first problem , lol
well ive hit first problem , (nothing seroius as yet lol) , the dam fuel tank problems , as evern thow theres battles in the tank , fuel is escaping and the fuel pump is draging air i reckon as it keeps makeing horried noises , like air and no fuel and i was lucky to get up the road with it as well , so thought chuff it ill rip the tank off , and fit the standard mk3 vr6 in tank pump and then add this other pump inline , few pics
http://i30.tinypic.com/2rw43r6.jpg
then made a straight step to kep fuel in the bottom ,plus a gauze to stopp fuel runing away
http://i31.tinypic.com/2d2ipex.jpg
http://i25.tinypic.com/1zb6khv.jpg
but evern thow now the pumps sounds 100percent better ,i think like a **** ive piped it wrong
heres a quick daigram to explain
http://i29.tinypic.com/f2vkvr.jpg
ive piped the feed from the intake pump direct to inline high pressure pump to the filter and fuel rail ,
but the return from the fuel rail is piped direct to return of the intake vr6 pump , which im sure is wrong , because as it fils the intake pump it then returns inthe return fuel hose , which im sure i need to route the return to the tank and the vr6 pump as well

right a few updates ,mostly bad after i got the caddy moted and on the road , started tuning and boosting 8psi , this may not sound a lot , but mental with one of these engine/gearboxs in a caddy i had major torque steer trying to keep it straight , so i got around this by riping both driveshafts off and makeing 2 tubilar shafts and beefed them up , worked a treat , so on i went tuning ps 8psi , on the data log worked out 304bhp ) after more tuning i got a mental 23psi of boost , never been in anything like it ,pulling power and torque was on another leval , so the following day i thought ive got to get some footage ,lol day come everything set , and i dam paused the video instead of recoreding and as i stopped the video , it recoreded the worst part the dam engine oil give away causeing engine crank failure grrr ,,so ive had to buy another and start again , the problem i found was the engine oil was wrong and also had the wrong dam sump on the engine causeing oil starvation , more pics here
went and had the wheels tracked up today (guys liked it lol)
http://i31.tinypic.com/35m0i68.jpg
and the mk2 16v servo arrived (thank god lol)
http://i32.tinypic.com/jkf6t0.jpg
and a of pic
http://i31.tinypic.com/3151t3t.jpg
just do a near direct bolt on ,but due to the exhust and header tank , i had to re mod it lol
http://i29.tinypic.com/2ufxf6e.jpg
and that pin that holds the arm in place was a **** to get out lol
http://i31.tinypic.com/24lj52d.jpg
once fitted
http://i30.tinypic.com/qoycd2.jpg
had to chop a bit out of the header too
http://i26.tinypic.com/sxg5j4.jpg
job done brakes dont seem any better considering but its a bit late to go back now ,,
the 4wd makes a right differnce when i floor the engine lol, nothing seems to be catching either lol

powernut Sep 22nd, 2009 21:14

after all effort and hours ive put into this and this happernds ,i carnt belive it , plans , basicly none , unless i try to re grind parts of the crank lol (kidding) basicly its probley easyer fitting another complete engine ,but there pricely so if any one herars of a cheepish one let me know and a few pics
alloy fileing in the sump and in the engine
http://i28.tinypic.com/2n8uecn.jpg
see the shells here
http://i28.tinypic.com/154aeqv.jpg
then see the dark black one how hot it must have got
http://i30.tinypic.com/imusf5.jpg
the crank dosent look too bad , apart from 3 bearing whitch have spun , but there no score marks on the crank
http://i26.tinypic.com/2922n8i.jpg
but this one is the problem it has grabbed and spun the shell , maybe ok with wet and dry to clean it up , but then thees the conrod which has worn with the shell spin ,so that will need replaceing

http://i35.tinypic.com/wtj61s.jpg
http://i35.tinypic.com/25iaikj.jpg

http://i35.tinypic.com/2v3shza.jpg
bit of gernal stripping checking this after to make sure the engine is in decent , i was actury suprized when i removed the sump , very clean in there,
http://i37.tinypic.com/mvrgus.jpg
http://i38.tinypic.com/29f6lw0.jpg
checked all the shells mains and oil pump
http://i37.tinypic.com/kbvzmw.jpg
next rocker and clyinder head removed
http://i35.tinypic.com/r9r49e.jpg
http://i35.tinypic.com/1222ogy.jpg
checked the bores and there no lips at all nice clean smooth bores is always a good sign
http://i33.tinypic.com/2mql2ef.jpg
also decieded i thought id treat myself to a new steel single mass flywheel to do away with all that dual mass crap
http://i36.tinypic.com/2gw9s7k.jpg
just finshing off the homemade headspacer , saves removing other too
as its suposed to have done a geniune 39,000 ,,

powernut Sep 22nd, 2009 21:18

bit more homemade modifying this moring made a new headspacer ,
fits a dam treat too

finished it off today, im happy with it so its getting thown on lol
http://i38.tinypic.com/j5yutg.jpg
quick clean up and check of the head
http://i34.tinypic.com/2m3qxoj.jpg

http://i35.tinypic.com/2dbkkf6.jpg
ill get the clyinder all refitted and torqued back up 2moz ,and look work start on stripping my old unit out ,,;)
had a spare hour to day so thought id prep the head for the low compression spacer and gasket instail first
split the new gasket as i dont need the middle shim
http://i33.tinypic.com/r9e8oj.jpg
tin of copper sealer
http://i34.tinypic.com/14vljie.jpg
then use copper head sealer on the block
http://i36.tinypic.com/xkyec0.jpg
fit the botom layer
http://i33.tinypic.com/2wn62h2.jpg
then compression spacer
http://i37.tinypic.com/34hi784.jpg
then top part of gasket
http://i33.tinypic.com/2wn62h2.jpg
then fit the head and torque the head in the correct order
http://i38.tinypic.com/2m834at.jpg
http://i37.tinypic.com/33pge9k.jpg
then get some bars to make sure the varible cam pulleys are tight lol and double checking the timing as well
http://i33.tinypic.com/29xdi05.jpg
one engine ready for boost ,,

cheers james its only a mirror set back lol ,there was plent more tuning too , main cause oil type and sump/oilpump clearance issuise , not take me long to rip out and rebuild fit , but im waiting for a singla mass flywheel from usa , to save the dual masses keep getting recked ,,lol

foggyjames Sep 22nd, 2009 23:59

Dual masses are nice for a smooth daily drive...but don't like holding up once you increase the power!

cheers
