Default V60 2015+ VEA D2/3/4 engine reliability

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum. I searched the forum, but sadly didn't find much information regarding the issues to check when buying used diesel V60 from year 2015 onwards, afaik with Volvo's own engines from this year on. I'm considering a 2015 V60 D2 (D4204T8 engine) with roughly 65k miles. Does any of you have experience with this engine? I know i cannot expect performance from 120hp engine, but reliability and economy are of bigger importance to me.

Thank you.

I bought a V60 one year ago with this engine with 110,000 miles, after running a Saab Aero for 19 yrs it certainly doesn’t have the blistering acceleration I was used to. But being a diesel has a huge amount if torque low down and it will overtake but just allow more time. The best thing is the economy, it does a constant 45mpg around town and 65mpg on the motorway,I drive 25 miles each day to work and back and I get around 650 miles from a full tank. It doesn’t use any oil and is silent when cruising as it turns over at such a low rpm, its fooled my wife as she has found herself over the speed several times due to its quiet engine. And I like the power shift autobox which is smoother than my Jaguars autobox!
