Default V70 Both front indicators not working?

Hiya Peeps! It's been a while, sold my manual 850 T5 last year and just picked up a manual V70 2.3 T5 project last week on impulse as it was my neighbour's old car and I usually have to travel for a motor so I felt it was meant to be, not sure my Wife would agree?

Working my way through some niggles... first one is that both front indicators don't work, rapid flash on the instrument cluster but nothing happening up front? The bulbs are old but tested as OK, is there a common ground and where abouts is it? I don't have a wiring diagram yet. Also have non working main beam on passenger side... again, the bulb is good. Any help would be appreciated.

one possibility is lamp holders can get old and brittle and the contacts don't connect properly any more, I've had to replace both sides on mine (but not at the same time)

are the back ones working?

what year is the car, some of the later headlights have ballasts as well as lamps

access is extremely limited you might be best to just take the bumper off, headlight units off the car, also change the side lights which are impossible to get at as well, and take the opportunity to have a little clean out and check the window squirter water pumps ahead of time in case they need replacing as well (or any other bumper-off jobs you can think of)
