The R Sport kit perhaps for the 343 around 1981 ?

They did a R-Sport tuning kit for the B14 in the 343 (hotter cam, a sports exhaust, and an electric fan, I think), so it would stand to reason that similar treatment could have been given to the B110/130 in the 66.

cheers

James

I fitted 2 of those kits back then but hardly worth about 10 bhp extra, it had different jets for the 32DIR Weber carb too. The camshaft would make a Rattle noise , could never get them quiet .

Thanks - interesting to know.

Years and years ago I nearly bought a B14 cam in an R-Sport box...goodness knows if it was really something fruity or not! I decided to pass, in the end.

I think your route of fitting the Gordini engine would be far more worthwhile!

cheers

James

The Gordini Engine is 93 bhp as standard , it isn't a massive increase in performance however, it just openes up the rev range to about 6500 which fades at 5000 rpm on a B14. what's involved in increasing the B14 to 1600cc? Are liners and pistons freely available?

The 66 could be improved greatly with the B172 engine and it's manual clutch !

I think you'd see a greater response to further tuning (Webers and a nice exhaust manifold, etc) with a Gordini head than the normal B14-style head.

It doesn't look like there was ever a factory big-bore option for the iron Cleon. Some of the later 1.6 developments (Dacias, etc) used a stroker crank (and presumably shorter pistons), as did the Oettinger 1.6 kit.

The more famous factory 1.6 Gordini (and Alpine) engines were from the alloy Cleon family, and I don't know how interchangeable the bits are!

cheers

James

How much extra power can the Variomatic put up with. Has anyone gone down this path before with the 66?

The limiting factor is the alloy propshaft, that's why the 360 had a different arrangement with a torque tube.
