A lot of the time, when full regen is avilable I very rarely use the brake. its only when the battery is below its optimum temperature and cannot take full advantage of range that I forget, misjudge slowing down and have to anchor on the brakes!

I might do a test soon down a straight flat road close to me, to see how long form 70/50/40/30 regen braking takes to slow you to a stop. I am sure people have done this alreayd though....Off to google I go!

So 15% more for standard models?

EV's wear out brake components (both discs & pads) a lot more slowly than ICE's, so they definitely put less of the resulting gases/dust/etc out into the air.
They'd deposit more rubber from tyres, but of course less engine & gearbox oil.

Mind you that stuff's nowhere near as big a thing as what comes out the exhaust pipe.

What was the link between ICE trains & electric ones, and the thread topic? I missed that.

Just went off-topic. It wasn't related to the thread title specifically (Not intentional).

Ah, another entry into the huge tome of "responded to something without even having read it" ... you've linked another copy of exactly the same video.

I'll have a look at that. Thanks for posting.

My view is EV's only really work if you do short journeys, for say a standard car like a Nissan Leaf (even better if you can charge at home). If you do long journey's and you want an EV, then Tesla stands out from the pack because they have the supercharger hubs and better range. Downside is, the vast majority can't afford Tesla's and there's not enough charging stations for ordinary cars (yet). I've heard multiple times on the radio people struggling to find working charging stations and it sounds like it could be a real problem, especially on a longer journey in an EV that doesn't have as good of a range as a Tesla.

There's benefits to having an EV, such as no road tax and no congestion/ULEZ charges if you live in London... I see why people swap. I'm not entirely convinced that they're "green" though. I think an ICE car on a longer journey works better. There's petrol stations everywhere. If only the same could be said for chargers.
