Default S90 Loud scraping noise

Hello all, can anyone please advise me. On some occasions there is what I can only describe as a loud metallic scraping noise that seems to come from under the car. This doesn't happen very often and it's usually soon after I've started driving. Sometimes the noise just goes away on it's own but sometimes I have to make a sharp turn one way or the other and it seems to 'release something' and the noise stops. I've recently had a major service and MOT. I forgot to mention it to them and nothing was picked up by the dealership. They did say the my brake pads were 85% worn and need replacing which I plan to do in the next couple of weeks. Could that have something to do with it.
Any advice would be most welcome.

Steve

It may well be the worn pads, I would change them asap.

Could also be a stone caught inbetween the disk and the backplate.

Yes, it does sound like it's coming from one of the wheels but I was doubtful it's due to worn pads because it started happening more than a year ago.
The stone theory could be more like it, I guess we'll see when I have the discs and pads replaced.
Thank you both for your thoughts.

If it has been going on for a while then it will unlikely be a stone. They tend to get trapped, make an absolute racket, then get released and the noise just stops.

I have experienced something similar on couple of occasions over the years. Initially thought brakes. Try rocking the car forwards and backwords in gear and it stopped. Put it down to a small stone.
