Have been reading the forums regularly but first question I've asked.

I have a 03 V40 1.9D (115 bhp) that has done 195,000 miles. It has gradually developed an intermittant habit of cutting out when approaching junctions/traffic lights or not wanting to rev when pulling away again. Sometimes when idling the idle speed will drop or stall.

When the car was in the dealers for a service about 20K miles ago they replaced the fuel filter, didn't make much difference. At the next service I again asked them to look at the problem, but it did not play up at all while they had it (it is after all "intermittent") and they could not find any fault codes logged.

It has very occasionally now cut out while cruising at about 50mph and have had to pull in, switch off and restart.

When it cuts out it always restarts instantly, so i'm not thinking fuel starvation or drawing air somewhere (maybe wrong here).

Thought I would pose the question on here before I take it along to the diesel specialists.
