Hi,
If you use the adhesive sheets they will stick anywhere you want. I have used them down either side of the main shield down the centre of the car above the exhaust sticking them to the underside of the car floor and also over the edges of the shield behind the engine where the exhaust manifold joins the exhaust pipe as that heat sheild dropped down onto the pipe. Basically most of the heatshields have come loose at some stage and this is a really quick and easy way to fix them back..
The sheet sticks flat to whatever you use it on so if the exhaust is passing close to the fuel tank just stick the heat shield sheet to the underfloor and tank wherever it comes close. You get clearance as the sheet is only a few mm thick.
