Buying a high mileage xc60 D5

I’m looking at buying my first Volvo, I’m after an xc60 preferably after the 2013 update. Have been to see a few of them and test driven, I have found a well looked after 15 plate with just over 120k miles on it, so it’s likely been used as a commuter car I’d have thought with that mileage on, but it looks clean (In the pics as I’ve not seen it in person) and is well specced, full history etc.
I’m really considering buying it as long as in person it is how it looks. My thoughts are although it’s high mileage, it’s probably motorway mileage which to me would be a better buy than a car that’s averaged 8k a year etc and just been around town.
They do also appear to hold value well too, so I don’t think I should be concerned at resale value in 3 years or so?
Is there anything major I need to consider on a high mileage example? I need to check whether the cambelt has definitely been done by the 108k mark too!

Even though i am a fan of much maligned diesel you cannot buck the market and i would tread carefully. If it isn’t EU6 engine spec (ULEZ compliant) i would only touch a diesel if very very cheap. Anything non EU6 will become increasingly difficult to sell especially with mega miles and needing DPF, EGR, etc sorting out.

My opinion is that service history is more important than mileage. It should have had a cambelt at 108k miles but I wouldn't hesitate in buying it.

120k miles is not considered high for one of these engines

Sounds a good car if it has full history. Unless you have to drive into a major city regularly I wouldn't be put off buying a diesel and they are still softer on the planet than equivalent petrol models.

Do check the gearbox though - get it hot and then shift from P to D and R and back again - check for banging or shuddering in the car. Also slow down gently from 50 mph and check for the same.

Go for a "Lux" model it has the best instruments and headlights.

I’m definitely going for the lux model! Will perhaps be driving in a major city once a year if that!
I will make sure that the belt is done on it at 108k, should be piece of mind for a while then!
Thanks for the tips on the auto box, will make sure to give it a good going over.
